Notes
Definitions:
- CP = Cost Price. SP = Selling Price. MP = Marked Price.
- Profit: SP > CP. P% = (SP-CP)/CP × 100.
- Loss: SP < CP. L% = (CP-SP)/CP × 100.
- Discount % = (MP-SP)/MP × 100.
Key formulas:
- SP = CP × (100±P%)/100.
- CP = SP × 100/(100±P%).
- After markup M% + discount D%: profit % = M − D − MD/100.
Common RRB problems:
- "Cost X, sold Y, profit %?"
- Successive discount equivalent.
- "Marked above CP, then discount = profit %?"
- Equal % profit & loss on same SP → net LOSS = (X/10)² %.
- Dishonest dealer / faulty weight: gain = (error)/(true − error) × 100.
Quick fact: "Sold 2 articles at same price; one at 20% profit, other at 20% loss" → 4% net LOSS always.
